48 Hour Detox

48 Hour Detox For Beginners

The world is an extremely polluted place. Factories, vehicles and anything that emits exhaust spew contaminants into the atmosphere without much regard for anything else; ships and humans constantly poison our waters as we dump chemicals and other harmful substances into rivers, lakes, seas and other bodies of water.  As for the food we eat, the very hectic nature of our daily lives almost always results in us regularly consuming processed and junk foods, with all their additives and monosodium glutamate, to get us through each working day.

To counter all the unwanted substances we get from daily exposure to all sorts of toxins, detoxification has become quite the necessity for every single one of us. Our body has a natural detox mechanism that flushes toxins out and keeps our systems clean, but it can only do part of the job. It is up to us then to make an effort to augment our own detox system by undergoing detox diet plans that ultimately cleanse our bodies.

There are many detox diet plans available to everyone, but for those who have not had the chance to do any type of detox before, it is advisable that they do a 48 hour detox first. This is because most detox diets call for a limited, and in some detox types, total elimination of the foods that we’re used to eating, and that may just be too much to handle for first-timers.

It is also advisable that if you’re planning to do a 48 hour detox, you should do it on a weekend where you don’t have to work so there wouldn’t be any added pressure on you during those two days. Also, it is wise to slow down on your food intake a few days before the scheduled commencement of your 48 hour detox. Conversely, it wouldn’t be smart to stuff yourself with the usual junk food and alcoholic beverages before detox starts.

Typically, you are only allowed to drink water and fruit juice during a 48 hour detox. Coffee, alcohol and softdrinks are a no-no. As for solid food, only fresh vegetables and fruits are allowed, although some 48 hour detox programs allow the intake of brown rice, as well as grilled fresh fish. One thing that a person should not forget during a 48 hour detox is that they can eat any of the above mentioned food as much as they like so they won’t get hungry.
